AE 2009 Artist's Alley
What a weekend! I gotta say, it was an extremely crazy busy convention. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by! ;_;~~
... I didn't even get to go shopping ;A;!! People went to get food for me, even. I didn't have much time to chat with everyone. I was only able to see them briefly... except for =crazys and ~Cadychan due to them being my table buddehs and bumming in a hotel with =crazys. Even ~CrowMaiden and ~heyraynie were too far ;;; I did take 5 minutes to run and buy a couple of prints from Kidchan, though, since one of my friends were awesome and took over and erased the pencils on an inked commission.
This week is gonna be a busy week. Finishing up commissions, and fixing up my super lame portfolio website... which in the end, didn't have a link to my DeviantArt account D: I did not realize this until now. The business cards that I gave out (and didn't have a single one left of) had my portfolio website on it. Total fail on my behalf.
Unfortunately that's only 20% of my to-do list D: maybe less. I can't rest, so I gotta keep pushing forward.
Pimp
There are still copies available for our Zelda Doujinshi, 13 Rupees! Also, keep on the lookout for updates on our next book!
Animated Films by me and my classmates~

No problem! I wish I could help more, but a lot of them are busy these days even for me. I don't think anyone has to be clubbing or going to a bar, but rather it could be just networking with friends and attending parties every now and then. I met Colin through the AE forums actually, but that was 6 years ago and only as friends. It remained like that for a long time and then we didn't have a chance to talk for a while. Then we started chatting again and one conversation led to another, basically!

I'm sure it is because of the location that price went up, but yeah i hope you're right and that AA gets some more attention, perhaps we could email someone who works at AE and let them know?
Thanks! i understand, people are busy so it's ok, i never did have much luck in school ( but then again i didn't try too hard ) and after i was busy with jobs and so on but i think now wouldn't be a bad time, i've read in papers how other people meet and it seems to be just chatting or talking to people out of the blue but i always felt that was so weird and unnatural, and yeah bars and clubs are one of the many places to meet someone.
but to be honest i think it's a little easier for a girl to approach a guy with interest rather then the other way around, i could be wrong but i just think that.
anyway thanks a lot, like i said i don't really know many girls as friends either so it's not like i could ask someone i know instead and i have tried the internet route a while back too so i thought i'd ask you and see what happens

But yeah i'd be set for most of the year with that
Damn we do! the van-con isn't really good enough for a geek con because it's too small and the guy who runs it is a complete asshole ( i've dealt with him before ) but i hope one day AE would kinda branch out and cover more then just anime since it's the only real con in the city currently.
AE did have quite a lot of talented people this year, i hope just as many come back next year so i can chat them up sitting next to them
You should come back to AE just for the artist alley experience again, huhuhu >:3 (though... I think anyone would much rather visit Japan XD) it's more fun with Affy
When I have moneyyyy *A* I'll try to save up!! Hopefully I can get a good paying job soon D:

Organization is always good! I'm usually never set when it rolls around. Everything is more often than not thrown together last minute. Ha
Yeahh I've heard things about the van-con. If there was another one like the Calgary Comic Expo or something, it'd be really awesome-- which I would totally love to organize, but that's a job all on its' own!! It'd be nice if AE can become like that, though.
AE's artist alley is so large! It'd also be nice if they could open up more tables and promote the talent in the area

Well for 2010 i'm getting ready now lol, speaking of do you have a table partner planned already? if not....
I tried to get a table at the van-con ( it happens every few months ) but the guy who runs it is a big douchebag so i'm pretty much out of luck for that place untill either he stops running it or someone else takes over, but yeah it's not very big and there isn't many if any good artists ( it's mostly full of emily carr students )but this time around Josh middleton is coming down! [link] so that should be pretty awesome, the only other big artist recently down there was camilla d'errico ( and man she is everywhere! ) but yeah i agree if it was like calgary expo it would totally rock it!
Haha it was so big this year! let's hope next year is just good if not better
Good! I do have a table partner already, unfortunately
Ha haaa that sucks
Haha, Camilla really is everywhere!! She's got some really pretty works, though. I haven't heard of Josh Middleton, but thanks for the link! His stuff is pretty good!

Oh well, thank you! if i don't manage i do have a non-artist friend that would come with me so it's not like i'd be alone
Seattle was more comic focused but i felt it was run so much better then AE, there was at least 2-3 thousand people over the weekend and it was at the convention centre downtown and still the whole thing was smooth and the guests and speakers were really top notch guys, so i'm hoping AE will get to that level some day or at least calgary expo
Yeah she is! i saw her on free comic book day in yaletown even ( elfsar ) and she went to van-con, seattle con , and probably the toronto con as well, not to mention the seattle anime con too.
She must be busy like crazy! but yeah i found her style reminds me heavily of a japanese artist ( i can't recall his name for the life of me though ) since he did lots of mech-people as well ( but he did them in the 80's or so when the big robo-human thing was in style
Josh is a top notch guy, he had one piece in the udon's art of capcom book too, i mostly love his coloring style though
Glad to hear you're making good feedback on the forums
No kidding! I think I know which style you're talking about, but I can't put a name to it. But then again, a lot of older artists have a similar watercolour-like style.
Josh's colouring AND perspective, they're both good!
