AE 2009 Artist's Alley

What a weekend! I gotta say, it was an extremely crazy busy convention. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by! ;_;~~

... I didn't even get to go shopping ;A;!! People went to get food for me, even. I didn't have much time to chat with everyone. I was only able to see them briefly... except for =crazys and ~Cadychan due to them being my table buddehs and bumming in a hotel with =crazys. Even ~CrowMaiden and ~heyraynie were too far ;;; I did take 5 minutes to run and buy a couple of prints from Kidchan, though, since one of my friends were awesome and took over and erased the pencils on an inked commission.

This week is gonna be a busy week. Finishing up commissions, and fixing up my super lame portfolio website... which in the end, didn't have a link to my DeviantArt account D: I did not realize this until now. The business cards that I gave out (and didn't have a single one left of) had my portfolio website on it. Total fail on my behalf.

Unfortunately that's only 20% of my to-do list D: maybe less. I can't rest, so I gotta keep pushing forward.

It was good to see you again! it looked like a fairly busy con but for sure better then last year's
hopefully your sales and comissions are good

I think i'll attend next year since i'll have more art ( comic, sketchbook, fan art etc ) ready, i was pretty 50/50 this year so that's what i didn't attend.

anyway keep up the good work :)

It was good to see you again too! :) It was actually a lot busier on saturday, and I ended up having to take home commissions to work on. They could have made improvements on Artist Alley but hopefully those changes will occur next year. Overall, the convention in general seemed to pull off really really well.

Hopefully you can have a table next year too; it'd be sweet to see some of your stuff there. Hopefully next year I'll have the opportunity to chat with more people in AA :)

likewise! sorry i didn't stick around longer to chat but i was with some friends so i didn't want to leave them on their own too long.

good for you! that's always good to hear that you got alot of work, i seem to recall that the person who's table was next to mine also got tons of comission offers and probably had more of those then selling prints and so on, so it's not a bad sign :)

What do you think could have been better? was it just how they dealt with people and the paperwork etc? btw how much did it cost you to get the table anywho? i wonder if its more then last year too

I'm also happy that they had the con at the convention centre, i think that place is super cool and i'm sure it's easier to get to then say UBC for lots of people ( also gets some attention from new people since it's right downtown ) so i wonder if that had to do anything with the 5000 people that attended.

Yes! i plan to get a table for sure next year, i'll have more then enough work ready

lastly i wanted to ask you something, it's kind of a favour and i know we don't know each other very well so i'am slightly embarrassed to ask but to be honest i'm not sure what/who to turn to/do.
so i'm just gonna spit it out here, do you know any single lady friends of yours who are interested in meeting a guy? ( basically me ;) sorry if that's a bit creepy to ask you ( since we don't know each other that well and jazz ) but i figure you have quite a bit of girl-friends and well to be honest i'm tried of being single and i wouldn't mind even just meeting some new girls - as - friends sort of deal or whatever happens really.
anyway sorry that's all a bit long and this might even be a bit crazy but yeah, just let me know i guess?

thanks a bunch and good luck on the comissions!
:iconafuji:
Whaa It's so good hearing about the con (I was surprised since I thought it would be in aug like it usually is) I'm glad you got to be really busy with commissions and sell things! Kinda miss doing that (since I didnt attend last year either) but I'm glad you had fun. I wish I could of been there to see you! Come visit Japan some time!
:iconangelp:
That's totally cool! There was a lot to see! It really was busy, but I think it was mostly because we were doing cheap commissions... I think I will change that next year, though :s

I think they could have not had the stage right by artist's alley, and it could be in a more visible location, too. It was really difficult to talk to people. Other than that, it was spot on organized. I certainly had no problems other than that! It was $50 for a full table this year (no single spots), but the tables are big so it's not that bad. I hope it will be at the VCEC again. It's a really good location.

Also, unfortunately most of my girlfriends are already with someone and I don't have any single girlfriends that are looking afaik :( but I'll let you know if any of them change their minds. I certainly understand the frustration D: But don't give up :) I was just about to commit to singledom forever after giving up, and then along came my beau when I least expected him XD

Haha there was wasn't there? for sure more tables and booths then last year, i'm happy to see it's going outside of just anime/manga and getting into games and figures/toys as well.

It's true, i agree with you on that point i walked all over the vendor area first before i even saw that AA was on the other side, there wasn't any clear signs or anything really and i thought that AA was in a completely different room altogether so hopefully if it's held in VCEC again they'll fix that.
Ok thanks for the info, that's good to know the price, it went up though didn't it? i think my table last year was like $25?
but yeah i'm all for the location again!

Hey that's ok, thank you anyway, like i said i wasn't sure how it was going to go and i figured i'd just ask you and see what was up, i wasn't expecting anything.
I'm not frustrated as i just would sort of like to meet someone, i've been single for like...4 years now? and i don't do the club/bar scene and working in animation/games doesn't let me meet many single women lol, i'am curious and if you don't mind how did you two meet?
but thanks again!
